Ghana defender John Boye will sign a three-year contract with Turkish side Kayseri Erciyesspor today (Tuesday) after passing a medical.
The 27-year-old, who courted controversy at the just-ended World Cup, will move from French side Rennes on a free transfer.
The Ghanaian defender had a successful medical with the club on Monday afternoon at the Bakirkoy Acibadem Hospital in Istanbul.
This paves the way for him to sign the bumper three-year contract with the ambitious club after arriving in the country on Sunday.
He will wear the No.7 jersey for the upcoming season, Ghana’s leader in exclusive football news, GHANAsoccernet.com can confirm.
Coach Bulent Korkmaz was delighted with the capture of the Ghana defender on a free transfer to boost his defensive options which proved to be their bane last season.
This comes few weeks Ghana’s leading football news outlet exclusively revealed that the ex-Rennes centre-back was in talks with Kayseri Erciyesspor.
The agent of the Ghana international, Fabien Pivateau, agreed the deal before the World Cup but it is now being formalized.
Boye refused to extend his expiring contract with French side Rennes as he sought opportunities elsewhere to boost his career.
This season could prove to be important for the club as they have made huge signings for the season.
The ambitious Turkish side Erciyesspor already have AC Milan midfielderBakaye Traore, Senegalese defender Pape Diakhite and Portuguese forward Edinho in their fold.
The Ghana talented centre-back was linked with several clubs in the top leagues of Europe including Barcelona and Liverpool but nothing concrete has materialized.
His kissing of $100,000 at the World Cup which was the appearance fees of the Black Stars at the tournament in Brazil exposed him to global ridicule.
