The kingmakers of the Ga state, the Ga Dzaase has declared the purported induction of Dr Jo Blankson on Monday as Ga Mantse and president of the Ga Traditional Council, null and void.
Nii Yaote Oto-Ga, the Dzasetse said that the "purported installation is a nullity."
He said, "it is against the customs and traditions of the Ga state.
Nii Oto – Ga explained that it is only the Dzaase that has the prerogative to present any individual to the Ga Traditional Council as Ga Mantse, "and since Dr Blankson has not gone through any rites by the Dzaase, the traditional council has no right to admit him as Ga Mantse.
The traditional council has displayed gross indiscipline and impunity for procedure," he added.
Nii Oto-Ga said that the issue of Dr. Blankson’s nomination was pending before the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, and noted that "the action of Dr Blankson was in contempt of the judicial process.
"The action of the traditional council can at best be described as an illegality meant to showcase Dr Blankson as the Ga Mantse during the Golden Jubilee Celebration."
Nii Oto-Ga said Mr. Blankson "must in his own interest desist from the impunity of parading himself as Ga Mantse," and appealed to all state institutions not to give Dr. Blankson that recognition in the interest of peace and tranquillity in the Ga state.
He said the Ga Dzaase will ensure that the proper thing is done in line with time-honoured Ghana customs and traditions.
To this end, he said the Dzaase has been conferring with the various ruling houses to ensure that the right thing is done.
Meanwhile, Dr Ebenezer Tackie, a leading member of the Teiko Tsuru. We, one of the four ruling houses, said he intends filing a writ of contempt at the High Court against the Ga Traditional Council.
"Why would the Ga Traditional Council hold itself in contempt when the eligibility of the candidate is pending before the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs?" he asked.
Dr Tackie said the action of the traditional council sought to give the impression that the elaborate process or installing a Ga Mantse could be conveniently side-stepped.
Dr Tackie, who had filed an earlier suit against Dr Blankson’s nomination, said he would head back to the Regional House of Chief to ensure that the right thing is done.
"The fight is not over, he added.
