The Deputy Youth Director of the Church of Pentecost, Elder Amos Kevin-Annan has admonished students to refrain from pre-marital sex and focus their attention on their books to secure them a better future.
Elder Kevin-Annan who is also the Training Coordinator of the Pentecost Youth Resource Centre at Tema further enjoined them to set goals ahead to make their education productive.
The Deputy Youth Director was speaking at the annual area rally of the Pentecost Students and Associates (PENSA) in Agona Swedru in the Central Region on the theme: “Today’s Youth and Sex”.
The event was under the auspices of the Youth Ministry of the Agona Swedru Area of the church.
Seven hundred and thirteen students drawn from the second cycle educational institutions in the area and the University of Education, Winneba attended the function.
Elder Kevin-Annan who is also a student counselor of the Pentecost University College said sex was never a proof of love and even though it was a social gift of God, it was only good if it was done the way and manner God had designed it.
He said as Christians, the students were the ambassadors of Christ and therefore cautioned them not to rush to become mature but take time to grow because God was not looking for only smart boys and girls to do his work but also the wise ones.
The Area Youth Leader and District Pastor of Agona Nsaba, Pastor S. Asamoah Gyarko advised students to eschew deviant sexual behaviors in order not to ruin their lives.
Recounting history of PENSA, the Area Head of the Church, Apostle James Smith Gyimah said he and two others initiated its formation in the 1980’s to prevent the youth in church from going way ward.
In another development, Apostle Gyimah has opened a one day seminar for musicians and technicians of the church at Agona Swedru.
