Cairo giants Ahly have threatened to stop airing their Premier League matches if they aren't paid late installments from their broadcasting rights.
"We sent a delegation to the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) and the Egyptian Premier League saying that we refuse to broadcast our upcoming games, starting from Gouna, until the club gets its late dues," said a statement published on the club's website on Thursday.
"Until now we've only received LE750,000 (around $100,000), in spite of broadcasting all our games during the past period," the statement added.
Ahly have the lions' share of the Egyptian Premier League's collective broadcasting deal, as they are granted LE18 million.
The Red Devils hope to pressure state-run TV for the money in order to ease pressure on the side's management – stemming from the financial crisis that has plagued Egyptian soccer since the 25 January 2011 uprising.
There will be time for negotiations as league play has actually been halted due to international matches and will resume on 12 June.
Ahly's new president Mahmoud Taher is facing several financial challenges, especially concerning the renewal of several key players and the recruitment of top players to strengthen the squad ahead of the new season.
