Members of the Medical Assistants Association of Ghana have appealed to Government, Ministry of Health and Ghana Health Service to upgrade the Rural Health Training School at Kintampo in Brong Ahafo Region which trains Medical Assistants, to a University status.
They contended that the Medical Assistants Programme when upgraded, would improve skills and competence of students to undertake minor surgeries in rural areas that constitute about 70 per cent of Ghana's population.
The appeal was made in a statement issued in Kumasi on Friday and signed by Chief Imoro Bandana II, National President of the association.
It commended Dr Emmanuel Teye Adjase, Director of the School and staff for their excellent performance, especially during this year's congregation.
The statement appealed to NGO's and corporate institutions for assistance to the School.
