Ghana goalkeeper Fatau Dauda is set to leave South African sideOrlando Pirates for Belgian giants Standard Liege following his exploits at the World Cup.
The former Ashanti Gold shot-stopper is desperate to leave the Absa Premiership giants after enduring a torrid time at the Buccaneers.
Dauda is eyeing a move away from the Parktown-based outfit, after attracting interest from Belgian giants Standard Liege following some impressive showing at the World Cup.
He has revealed that following his performances at the World Cup, Daniel Opare, a World Cup team-mate and ex-defender of Standard Liege, was contacted by the Belgian club to reach Dauda.
“Just after the game against Germany, Daniel Opare (Ghana defender) told me his coach at Liege wants to speak to me,” Dauda is reported to have told the Ghanaian media.
“I spoke to him but I believe everything for now will depend on my agent,” he concluded.
The shot-stopper endured a forgettable 2013/14 PSL season in South Africa and the former Ashanti Gold player could only make three appearances for the Buccaneers.
The Accra-born keeper made two appearances at the 2014 Fifa Brazil World Cup tournament against European powerhouses Germany and Portugal.
In the past, the 29-year-old goalie, whose Bucs contract expires in 2016, has been linked with a possible move to North African and Middle Eastern teams.
