A suspected armed robber, Kofi Isaac, a 24-year old resident of Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region, has been declared wanted by the Nkawkaw Divisional Police Command after he managed to escape from courtroom with handcuffs.
The police have announced a reward of GHS 2,000 to any person who could help to cause the arrest of the suspect.
The Nkawkaw Divisional Police Commander, Superintendent Kwaku Duah, confirmed to DAILY GUIDE that the suspect on July 25, this year, was arrested for allegedly defrauding some residents of the town and stealing some items belongs to them. He was sent to court on three occasions as his case had been adjourned several times.
According to him, the suspect was sent to court on Monday and managed to run away when hearing of the case was about to begin. He was alleged to have gone into hiding in a house near the court, when the police officer on duty had failed to cause his arrest.
Narrating further, Superintendent Kwaku Duah asserted that when the owner of the house found the suspect in his room, he raised an alarm with the intent to cause his (suspect's) arrest, but he was able to escape through the landlord's window. He said Kofi Isaac had still not been apprehended.
Superintendent Duah therefore, appealed to the general public to help the police to arrest the suspect. He added that anyone who would help the police to fish out the suspect would be rewarded.
