Staff of GYEEDA have dragged their Executive Director Kobby Acheampong to the National Labour Commission accusing him of breaching their employment contracts signed in 2012.
The staff have said the Management of the authority who took over from the Abuga Pele-led administration in 2013, have declared their contracts null and void without explanation.
GYEEDA is a government program that provides temporal job opportunities to youths and also train them with employable skills.
But the program has been riddled with corruption and controversy as damming investigations by Joy News investigative journalist Manasseh Azure revealed. It has since been under restructuring. The contracts of some key service providers have been terminated.
The staff, including programmes, project and account managers, said although they have been working for the last two years their salaries have not been paid.
In a petition to the Labour Commission, they said all efforts to retrieve their salaries have not yielded any positive result. These efforts include previous petitions to the Public Services Commission.
The petition cites Kwabena Acheampong as respondent.
Executive Secretary of the commission Dr. Bernice Welbeck told Joy News Joseph Opoku Gakpo that the petition which was received yesterday is being worked on.
She said it would be forwarded to the GYEEDA management for a response as part of investigations.
