Seven accused persons who allegedly robbed, raped a German woman and indecently assaulted her daughter at Tema Mighty beach appeared before Tema Circuit court “A” on Thursday.
The accused aged between 18 and 27 pleaded not guilty to robbery, rape and indecent assault were remanded in custody to re-appear on January 22.
They were Razak Salifu, a butcher, Wilson Agboloso, electrician, Evans Agyeman, driver and Godwin Gbeku, unemployed.
The rest were Winifred Amamalepo, Baba Amadu and Larbi Tettey Agbanador all drivers’ mates.
Police Chief Inspector Sarah Acquah told the court that on December 20, last year, the complainants went to the beach to have fun while the accused persons who belonged to a group known as “Death Jam” at Ashaiman also held a party at the beach.
She said at about 5.30 pm the complainants decided to return home, and stood at the main gate for their husband and father to pick them.
The prosecution said while waiting, the accused persons pounced on them and robbed them of their monies, raped the woman and indecently assaulted the girl and were caught in the act by the man who was coming to pick them.
She said with the assistance of other merry makers at the beach some of them were arrested while investigations led to the arrest of the rest.Source: GNA
