A 39-year old man who made an initial trip from Kumasi to Accra in five days on foot to advocate for a peaceful election in the round-up to the December elections is making a trip back to Kumasi.
The 240-kilometre trip between the two cities is to thank Ghanaians for conducting themselves well during the electioneering period.
Mr. Solomon Benjamin Asare, who calls himself the "peace walker”, told the Ghana News Agency in Accra that he was pleased with the political maturity, exhibited by Ghanaians.
“Ghanaians have proven to Africa and the whole world that they believe in democracy and above all, they've been able to maintain peace throughout almost a whole month process", he added.
He also thanked the Electoral Commission, political parties, local and foreign observers, saying, "even though there were skirmishes here and there, the election was free, fair, transparent and peaceful".
Asked when he will embark on the trip, Mr Asare said, "very soon" and called for support from corporate institutions, donor agencies and other individuals.
He commended President John Evans Atta Mills on his election and called for national unity and cohesion.
