Moves by an Estate development company, Alrotech Limited to demolish ‘unapproved’ structures at Red Top in Dunkuna near Bortianor in the Ga South Municipality, have incurred the wrath of residents there.
Alrotech claims it has secured a court order to carry out the exercise, but the residents have vowed to resist with their blood, any attempt to pull down their properties.

The planned demolition which has targeted 700 houses including storey buildings, will possibly render 3,000 people homeless and is likely to consequently bring untold hardship to the affected residents.
For the past few months the residents have been subjected to disturbances from land guards and ‘macho’ men, although they [the residents] say they have legal documents to back ownership of the plots which they acquired a decade ago from the Acting chief of Bortianor.
Speaking to the media at a news conference, the residents appealed to the police to as a matter of urgency, halt the planned demolition.
“We want to put on record that failure on the part of the state and the police to stop the impending demolitions will compel us to engage in gun battles to protect our properties,” said Alfred Nii Allotey, spokesperson of the residents.
