The gay doctor who has admitted sodomising a 16-year old SHS student has been arrested.
Dr Sulley Ali-Gabass, senior medical doctor at Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Takoradi was arrested Wednesday afternoon following revelations from a painstaking investigation by Joy News' Manasseh Azure Awuni.
The arrest was confirmed by the Police Acting Public Affairs Director DSP Cephas Arthur in an interview with Joy News' Dzifa Bampoh.
According to him, Dr Ali-Gabass was picked up around 2:00 pm in Takoradi after he reported himself to the police station. The police had early on extended an invitation to him.
DSP Cephas Arthur said the suspect has been transferred to the CID Head quarters in Accra but is yet to be charged.
He would not say what charges would be proferred against him, except to add that by tomorrow appropriate charges would have been leveled.
Dr Ali-Gabass sodomised the 16-year-old boy whose anal region had to be operated upon to save his life.
The victim, whose name has been withheld, has also contracted HIV but Dr.Ali-Gabass said he cannot be blamed for that.
The victim claimed the Effia Nkwanta doctor forcibly had sex with him on five different occasions but Dr Ali-Gabass said it was only once and even that was a mistake.
He had since regretted his actions and apologised profusely.
Dr Ali-Gabass said he was enticed by the 15-year-old whom he met on facebook and whom he struck an unhealthy sexual acquaintance with. He turned 16 early this year.
Police say Dr Ali-Gabass will be kept in police custody while investigations continue.
Cephas Arthur called on the general public to provide more information to facilitate police investigations.
