Angry residents of Kukuo, a suburb of Tamale in the Northern Region are threatening to sue the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly over the poor sanitation conditions in the area.
According to the residents, the assembly has neglected its duties and has exposed them to the cholera outbreak and other communicable diseases.
They also cited the dilapidated nature of a public toilet facility which serves hundreds of residents and described it as a death trap in its current state.
The toilet facility is now overgrown with weeds.
The residents say the situation is encouraging open defecation which exposes them to diseases.
They say they have incessantly complained about reptiles including snakes entering their homes.
It is against this backdrop that the angry residents are threatening to sue the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly for ignoring their calls for rehabilitation of the toilet facility.
They also accused the Assemblyman for Kukuo Electoral Area of being insensitive to their plight.
