For a while now, music lovers know it is only a matter of time before Wizkid parts ways with his record label, Empire Mates Entertainment.
And that is solely because the Star Boy boss made it clear that his recently-released sophomore album, Ayo would be his last album with the label that nurtured him to fame and fortune.
In saying that, Wizkid also announced he’ll drop his first album under his own Starboy imprint in 2015.
Wizkid, who has been at the centre of unending controversies in the last three months, variously with fellow music stars including Samklef, Saeon and arch rival, Davido, might have just revealed his exit date from E.M.E with a recent tweet.
Writing: “1-12-2014 #StarBoy,” Wizkid might have made it known he will officially kick start projects under his own label on December 1, 2014 and his new album might just drop before the year ends.
Born Ayo Balogun, Wizkid got signed on to E.M.E Records in December 2009 and has gone on to have a career of roaring success, which many people only dream about.
His five-year contract with EME expires in December 2014 and long before now, with the reported crack in his relationship with Banky W and the label’s management, no one talked of a renewal.
