Some residents in the Upper West Region are calling for a curfew to be imposed in two communities following days of violent clashes.
They are convinced a curfew situation would better protect life and property.
Eight people have been injured, four seriously, in a community clash between residents of Jejera-Yiri and Dondoli.
The clashes were triggered by a protracted land dispute Joy News' correspondent Rafiq Salam reported.
That dispute had persisted since 1934.
On Tuesday the long standing feud escalated into full blown clashes with victims sustaining machetes and gunshot wounds.
21 suspects have been arrested by the police as relative calm returns to the area.
The clashes have left residents in shock with many fearing the situation could degenerate.
Some of the residents told Rafiq Salam they would rather a state of emergency is declared and a curfew imposed to ensure peace in the area.
The Regional Minister Amin Amidu Sulemana pleaded with the "hot-blooded" youth to exercise restraint.
He said the land case, the subject of the clashes is before the courts and it will be contemptuous for his or the government to do anything.
He said the police will maintain maximum security in the area, adding, when there is no peace in Wa there will be no peace in Upper West.
