The Managing Director of Obeis Travel and Tour Ltd, Ibrahim Freshpound, is being sought for by the Odorkor Police, for allegedly defrauding nine people of a total of GH¢22,OOO.
Freshpound is said to have collected various sums of money from Francis Dzanka, Daniel Flescher, Bempong Bismarck Boakye and six others on the pretext of securing them visas to travel to 12 different countries for jobs but failed to do so.
A source at the Odorkor Police Station told the Daily Graphic that Freshpound told his victims that he would assist them to acquire jobs and accommodation in Canada, Australia, U.K, USA, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, France, Italy, Japan, Ireland and Malaysia.
Each person was made to pay between GH¢2, OOO and GH¢3,600, depending on the country of destination and another GH¢20 for application forms.
The source said on the applicants’ forms was stated that accommodation would be provided for two years for each person and that payment for the accommodation would be deducted from the applicant's salary.
Each applicant was promised an hourly salary of $15.
According to the source, Freshpound took part-payment for the visas in July, last year, promised to secure the visas within two months and then receive the balance of the payments after the visas had been delivered.
He told his victims that due to his influence at the various embassies, they ,Would not go through any interview session.
After failing to deliver the visas in three months, the source said, the applicants began hounding Freshpound for their monies but he succeeded in convincing them to part with the outstanding fees, saying that would facilitate easy access to the visas.
But after that, he went into hiding and attempts to locate him have proved futile.
