A Municipal Health Director has called on nurses in the country to adhere to the professional dress code to protect the image of the profession.
Madam Ellen Ofosu, Health Director for Ejisu Juabeng Municipality decried the current trend of indecent dressing among new crop of nurses saying that it was unethical for nurses to wear tight and above-the-knee uniforms to work.
The Director was speaking at the inauguration of a new ward for the Church of God Clinic at Essienimpong.
She called on the authorities of private and public nursing schools, directors at the various hospitals and the Ghana Nurses and Midwives Council to sanction errant nurses to help ensure sanity within the profession.
Bishop Robert Boakye Nkansah, Administrative Bishop of the Church of God-Ghana, commended the Chief and people of Essienimpong for releasing land to the church for the clinic project which started about twenty years ago.
He disclosed that the church would do it best to upgrade the clinic to a hospital status soon.
Mr Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ejisu Juabeng advised the youth to desist from smoking, taking alcohol and leading unhealthy lifestyles.
He promised to do his best as MP to enable the clinic to become one of the best in the area.
Mr Isaac Owusu, the Clinic Administrator, said the cost of construction of the ward was GH¢149,000 which was funded by the church.
He said it could take seventy patients at a time.
Nana Kwaku Bio, Essienimponhene, commended the workers at the clinic for the dedication to duty and promised to help the clinic to continue to render quality service to the community.
