The Accra Circuit Court today adjourned the case involving six persons who have been implicated in the Nayele Ametefeh cocaine scandal.

State prosecutors say they still need more time to complete their investigations. The six including foreign service officer Abiel Ashietey Armah and Alhaji Mohammed Dawood are facing charges of aiding Nayeli Ametefeh to traffic 12 kilograms of cocaine to the United Kingdom.

The Ghanaian lady was yesterday sentenced to eight years eight months by a London court.

Even though court proceedings began for her six suspected accomplices weeks ago, the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) is yet to complete their findings into the role they played.

Lawyers for the defendants expressed their disappointment over the constant adjournment of the case, Joy News’ Kwakye Afreh Nuamah reports.

Frank Davies, counsel for Abiel Ashietey Armah told Joy News though his client has been granted bail, the piecemeal prosecution is negatively affecting his client.

He wished prosecution would come forth with the exact time they need to finish their investigation to avoid the constant adjournment.

“Coming in and out of court without doing anything sometimes puts some kind of indecent pressure on the accused persons,” he said.

The trial judge Justice Francis Obiri has adjourned the case for two weeks.
