The Managing Director of the Metro Mass Transit Company, Noble John Appiah is recommending the suspension of depot managers under whose watch scrap buses went missing.
Mr. Appiah also wants security officers who allegedly facilitated the movement of the buses from the company’s yards across the country, to be dismissed.
Staff of the company on Monday, January 13, 2015, embarked on a nationwide protest demanding the dismissal of their Deputy MD John Duaza and the Board Chair, Osabarima Ansah Sasraku III, over the disappearance of some 11 buses.

Nhyira FM’s Ohemeng Tawiah has been investigating the matter, and reports, at least two of the buses were recently sighted at an auto mechanic workshop in Kumasi.
The aggrieved staff, however, suspended the demonstration hours later, after a meeting with Transport Minister Dzifa Attivor and Managing Director Noble Appiah.
But Mr. Appiah in his report to the board is recommending that depot managers where scrap buses disappeared be suspended for one month for failure to show leadership.
For the Kumasi depot in particular where rear axles were obtained for the buses before they were towed, Mr Appiah is recommending the cost be charged to the accounts of the depot and workshop managers.
The reporter also recommends further investigations into the claim that his Deputy, Mr. Duaza ordered the movement of the buses.
He is also asking the board to terminate the appointment of security officers on duty when the scrap buses were towed from yards across the country.
He further proposed that compromised auctioneers be barred from future auctions by the government-run transportation company.
