Africa's fight against Ebola has been dealt a heavy blow with the razing  of the Central Medical Stores in Tema, Ghana, which is said to be keeping the country's medications including that for Ebola.

Heavy fire ripped through the national asset, Tuesday morning, and left behind ashes of burnt medications and equipment.

It has emerged that the centre also housed new Ebola medications supplied by international agencies.

Ghana has been named as the Headquarters for the fight against Ebola in Africa and has received from World Health Organisation supplies of medical equipment and medicines.

All that has been lost, Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Health, Tony Goodman told Joy News' Kwakye Afreh Nuamah.

Goodman said the fire will have deleterious effect on health delivery in the country.

"This is where we keep all our drugs..We have nothing to salvage," he said.

"Everything has gone down the drain," he added.

Afreh reports fire personnel are having a torrid time fighting the fire.

He said due to the harmattan, the fire has moved from the warehouse of the Central Medical Stores to the transport yard.

According to him, fire personnel run out of water at some point and had to go for a refill.

Public Relations Officer of the Fire Service Billy Anaglatey has however assured that his outfit will put out the inferno.
