The alma mater of Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan, Seven Great Princess Academy will honour him through special games after captaining Ghana to two successful grand finales of the Nations Cup.
Despite failing to win the trophy in Angola in 2010 and at the just ended tourney at Equatorial Guinea, his basic school has thought it wise to honour their ‘illustrious’ son for bringing honour to them and the country by putting up special games from Wednesday to Friday at the Azumah Nelson Sports Complex.
The three-day event will include sporting activities such as football, athletics and many indoor games.
Also at stake will be a special trophy for the top scorer in football , dubbed the Baby Jet Award.
This gesture by the school is aimed at encouraging students of the institution to also excel in every field of their endeavour.
Gyan completed the basic school in 1999 before heading to Accra Academy for his secondary education.
The event is expected to be attended by various dignitaries including Ghana’s national athletics coach Albert Nukpezah as well as 1978 Nations Cup winner who doubles as the technical director of Ghana Premier League side Inter Allies, Willie Klutse.
