Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has promised his alma mata, Accra Academy, he will provide an astro turf to raise football infrastructure in the school to international standards.
Hailed by students of the Senior High School when he paid them a surprise visit Wednesday, the captain said he came to once again show appreciation to the school for the deep influence it has played on his success as an international footballer.
He told the students, he felt very proud anytime a fan shouted the school's slogan 'bleeoo'.
"I always wish to join the school's home-coming [events] but I always send messages down," he said.
The last time he visited the school was in 2006.
The headmaster Samuel Ofori-Adjei congratulated him for lifting the image of the school and that of Ghana. He predicted that Ghana's record goal scorer who also plays for Al-Ain will win an AFCON tournament before he retires.
Ghana lost to Ivory Coast on penalties last Sunday in the final of AFCON 2015 held in Equatorial Guinea.
