Management of Metro Mass Transit have interdicted Chairman of the Junior Staff Workers Union in Kumasi, John Osei after staff embarked on a strike over salary arrears.
He has been accused of inciting the workers to embark on the strike that resulted in the grounding of all buses in the metropolis.
Blatantly disregarding social distancing protocols, at the Kumasi Metro Mass Terminal, over 200 workers vacated their post and they laid down their tools on Wednesday.
Government had intervened earlier when they embarked on similar action, with a promise to settle their three-month salary arrears.
A few hours into the resumed strike, however, management issued a letter from the company’s head office, communicating the immediate interdiction of Mr Osei.
The enraged workers said the move against their leader will only make matters worse, demanding his reinstatement and payment of their money.
