St. Hubert Seminary SHS, Osei Tutu SHS, Agogo State College and KNUST SHS were the winners for day 1 of the NSMQ prelims in the Ashanti Region.
Agogo State College won the highest score of the day with 50 points. On the other hand, St. Hubert barely made it into the 1/8th stage by beating opponents Afua Kobi Ampem SHS on Thursday with two points and Asanteman by four.
In an interview with Joy News, St. Hubert shared their excitement after qualifying for next stage of the NSMQ
“Our performance is quite good and we hope to work on our mistakes and improve upon them in our next contest”.
Meanwhile, first-timers St. Marys Girls SHS Konongo blamed the lack of adequate facilities for their defeat today.
They called on the government to equip them better as they have the potential to match other well-performing NSMQ schools.
“We are using this platform to reach out to the general communities to come to our aid. The girls have done very well but if more things are put in place like a science lab and all other materials that enable science and maths quiz to go on successfully.
“If we are provided with all of these things we can go very far in the sense that the teachers in the school are very committed,” he added.
