There is brewing tension at Akuapem Larteh in the Eastern Region over threats by some residents of the Kubease side of the town to unleash attacks on residents of Ahenease, also a suburb of the town.
The threats follow the arrest and detention of one of the residents of Kubease who was contracted by the chief priestess of the Akonedi shrine to tile one of the rooms of the shrine on Saturday.
The suspect was arrested by the police after the Kontihene of the area lodged a complaint with the police over suspicion that he broke the padlocks to the main gate of the shrine located at Ahenease.
The Kontihene had locked the shrine to prevent the priestess, Nana Esi Koree I, popularly known as Lady Tamara from getting access to the place.
Even though, the priestess has owned up as the one who broke into the shrine, the police will not release the suspect.
There was a serious confrontation between armed police officers dispatched to arrest the suspect and the residents, even though they succeeded.

An audio available to Joy News believed to be the voice of the priestess urges the chief of Larteh, Nana Asiedu Okoo Ababio to intervene for the release of the suspect.
‘’Nana I greet you, this is your queen Lady Tamara, the issue at hand is a serious one. Sir, please we all need peace, what the Kontihene and the police are doing isn’t right. The boy is innocent, I broke the padlock and I have told them I am responsible but I am surprised they are still keeping the innocent boy in cells. The boys in Kubease are threatening to cause mayhem if the boy is not released. Please don’t blame me if anything untoward happens,’’ she said.
The fetish priestess who doubles as the Nkosuohemaa of Larteh has been in the news recently for expressing worry about the disappearance of her bus.
Nana Esi Koree is accusing the Abontendomhene of the area, Nana Boafo Osei-Agyei of masterminding the disappearance of the bus she claims to cost $500,000.
They have been fighting over a parking space close to the shrine.
The bus has since been found and is impounded at the Akropong District police Command.
Officers of the Anti Armed Robbery Unit of the Ghana Police Service in Accra have since taken inventory of all items in the bus.
