The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, COP Kwasi Mensah Duku has indicated that police investigations are closing in on suspected persons involved in recent shootings in Kumasi.
Speaking to JoyNews, COP Kwasi Mensah Duku stated that the police is on the verge of arresting suspected assailants involved in the attacks of persons at two separate shooting incidents in Kumasi.
"We have started with investigations and we have gone far. I believe in the next couple of weeks, the police will be able to apprehend persons who were involved in those crimes in Kumasi. We have enough evidence on these suspects," he stated.
The first incident on Monday involved a man in his late 30s who was shot dead in a friend's home after being robbed of money on him.
A day after, a Chinese national was shot in the arm by an unknown assailant, causing panic among residents of Ahodwo in Kumasi.
Regional Police Commander assured that all suspected assailants will be arrested in no time.
"I cannot disclose their identities now but I want to assure you we are very firm on the ground and very soon, you will hear from us," he noted.
The Head of Ashanti Regional Security Council, Simon Osei Mensah encouraged residents to volunteer information to the police to help deal with crime.
"When you come by any information, please do not hesitate to reach the police."
He assured the security agencies will ensure protection and anonymity of all individuals who volunteer information.
