The Deputy Commissioner in charge of Corporate Services, Dr Eric Bossman Asare says all disqualified aspirants had sufficient time to rectify any anomalies before the close of the nomination process.
Speaking on The Probe with Emefa Apawu, Sunday, Dr Bossman Asare refuted claims of the Commission being biased, stating that all presidential aspirants were given equal opportunity to go through their forms for further rectification.
He indicated that the 5-day period provided for the filing process was ample time for the aspirants to correct any errors identified in their forms.
“All the parties were given the chance and as far as the EC is concerned we treated the parties fairly including independent aspirant.
“Anyone who indicated that the commission did not give him/her the chance to do the corrections is not being factual to the people of this country,” he added.
He maintained that the mandate of the commission is so sacred that it makes no room to engage in anything that undermines the ambitions of individuals or any political parties.
The issue of forgery of signatures coupled with other reasons according to him led to the disqualification of some five presidential candidates.
These disqualified aspirant include Kofi Koranteng, Marricke Kofi Gane both independent presidential aspirant and Akwasi Addai Odike the presidential aspirant for United Progressive Party.
The others were the presidential aspirant for People’s Action Party, Kwasi Busumbru and Nana Agyenim Boateng of United Front Party.
The Deputy Commissioner urged the aggrieved individuals to proceed to court if they still have issues regarding the nomination process.
