President-elect, Akufo-Addo has commended the Electoral Commission (EC) for successfully conducting the 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections.
He made the comment during his first address to the nation after he won the 2020 presidential elections.
"I say a big 'ayekoo' to the chairperson, commissioners, directors, returning officers, electoral officers and the agents of our respective political parties for delivering one of the best elections if not the best in our history," he said.
The President-elect said the EC's ability to conduct the general elections, despite the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, is unmatched.
"The EC, even in the midst of the pandemic, has done a yeoman's job and we can only urge them to continue the path and achieving even greater strides," he said.
President-elect Akufo-Addo, Wednesday, was declared winner of the 2020 presidential race.
He beat his contenders with 6,730,413 votes, presenting 51.59% of valid votes cast.
This is his second win in a presidential election after he lost the 2008 and 2012 elections.
During his address, Akufo-Addo also commended the media, the general public, international observers and especially security agencies who ensured peace and safety of the process.
"Ghana will be forever be in your debt; your role has been invaluable in presenting law and order," he told them.
