The Rotary Club of Accra-West on behalf of The Rotary Foundation and Rotary Clubs of Dallas and Irwing Sunrise has handed over a mechanised borewell with supply to the Girls Dormitory, Kitchen and Administration block of Akropong School for the Blind in Akropong-Akuapem.
The water project costing ¢54,681 is in line with the Rotary International Water and Sanitation area of focus.
In addition to this, the Rotary Club of Accra-West donated 100 rims of Braille Sheets costing ¢7,000 to the school in line with Rotary International Basic Education and Literacy area of focus.

The Club President of Rotary Club of Accra-West during the hand over and the donation said Rotarians are excited to relief the school of its perennial water challenges as well as to support the school with their basic education material.
The Municipal Director of Education, Elizabeth Korkor Amanor on receiving the donations thanked Rotary International, the clubs involved and Rotarians for their consistent support to the Akropong School for the Blind.

The Akropong School for the Blind was established in 1945 and it is made up of different departments from the Kindergarten to the Junior High School (JHS) level.
It also has a Vocational Department, the Music Unit and the Adult Rehabilitation Class. The Adult Rehabilitation Class is set for people who become blind late in their lifetime.
Rotary International is an international service organization whose stated purpose is to bring together business and professional leaders in order to provide humanitarian service and to advance goodwill and peace around the world.

It is a non-political and non-religious organization open to all.
There are over 35,000 member clubs worldwide, with a membership of 1.3 million individuals, known as Rotarians. .
This is in line with two of the seven focus areas of Rotary International has seven areas of focus which includes: Water and Sanitation, Basic Education and Literacy, Disease Prevention and Treatment, Maternal and Child, Economic and Community Development as well as Environment.
