The Minister for Finance, Ken Ofori Atta has expressed utmost joy after being approved by Parliament on Monday, March 29.
Describing the two-day vetting as fair, the yet to be sworn-in Finance Minister thanked the Appointments Committee for recommending his approval to Parliament after reaching a consensus.
Speaking to JoyNews, Mr Ofori-Atta prayed for the Lord's wisdom to perform better in President Akufo-Addo's second term in office.
"I think this is a day to celebrate and then we pray the Lord will give me the wisdom to do better than we were doing the first section. It was a fair vetting, I am grateful to the committee for agreeing on the consensus and everything," he said.
The Finance Minister's approval comes after the Appointments Committee chaired by First Deputy Speaker, Joseph Osei Owusu stated that both NPP and NDC sides of the Committee request that the House approves Mr Ofori-Atta in accordance with Article 256 (1) of the Constitution and Standing Order 172.
Parliament, as a whole approved the nomination by a voice vote.
Prior to his approval, some NDC Caucus members in Parliament claimed dissatisfaction with some of his submissions during his vetting and called for clarification on issues pertaining the country's economic development.
Also, in Parliament today, Minority leader Haruna Iddrisu raised similar concerns after seconding the motion to approve Mr Ofori-Atta as Finance Minister.
