Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Obiri Boahen has made known his intention to vie for the party's General Secretary position.
In an interview on TopStory, Wednesday, Mr Obiri Boahen, intimated that he is competent enough for the role since he has gained more insight after serving in his current portfolio for two terms.
"I have expressed an intention and in the fullness of time when the ban has been lifted, I will contest for the position of the general secretary of the New Patriotic Party.
"I have been the general secretary for two terms, the first time in the history of our tradition that an individual has occupied that position for two terms and certainly, I am matured enough now to be the general secretary for the New patriotic party and certainly, I will contest for that position when the ban is lifted," he stated emphatically.
Even though the leadership of the ruling party has banned aspirants from campaigning, some prominent members of the NPP have announced their decision to vie for various positions.
Nonetheless, Mr Obiri Boahen is expected to run against the current General Secretary, John Boadu if he decides to contest for the office again.
However, he believes he is ever ready to compete with Mr Boadu.
"If he decides to contest yes we are all going to contest," he told Evans Mensah.
