The 2020 Miss Universe Ghana, on Wednesday, paid a courtesy call on former President John Mahama as part of her bid to generate support for her campaign on Autism awareness.
Prior to the meeting, Miss Chelsea Tayui said that she was inspired by her autistic brother to bring more awareness to children on the spectrum and how to help cater for them.
The former President who was impressed with the young lady’s choice of campaign praised her for helping to bring awareness to Autism.
Mr Mahama stated that he knows some people who have children with Autism and has witnessed how caring for these individuals can affect people emotionally, financially and psychologically.
“When you go to the villages, many of these places, the children are locked up, parents are ashamed to let people see their children like that. It is an issue I believe you have selected carefully.
"It is good to let people know that it is not a sin to have a child like that. You don't have to be ashamed to have a child like that and letting them know they are not alone.”

“It is not their children’s fault they are like that, society needs to help them. I think you have chosen a good course I wish you well in your advocacy. As and when you let us know we will do everything we can to assist you.”
Present at the meeting was Sylvester Mensah, MP for Ketu Soth Gzifah Gomashie and Mp for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.

Mr Okudzeto Ablakwa said that he is also ready to extend a hand to Miss Tayui in her bid to increase awareness on autism.
Miss Tayui thanked former President Mahama for the warm reception and all others present for supporting her campaign and promising to help her in her course.
