Journalists in the Oti and Volta Regions have been encouraged to focus more of their works on promoting tourism and businesses in the two regions.
During a masterclass seminar on business and tourism reporting organised by the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) and the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Regional Chairman of GJA, Anthony Bells Kafui Kanyi told the journalists that "reporting on business is more about analysing and interpretation of issues regarding economic growth and societal situations."
He urged his colleagues to read more on both local and international journals to keep them abreast on the happenings in the business world.
Mr Dela Gadzanku, Chairman of AGI, in his interaction listed some items journalists could ride on to promote such businesses in the two regions.
"The exportation of rice, potatoes, pawpaw and many others are credited to these great regions that journalists can write about to promote them, " he said.
He pledged that the Association would continue to put the regions on the global market by supporting journalists.
Also present was the Regional Manager for the Ghana Tourism Authority, Alexander Nketia, who noted that reports on tourist attractions is one of the best ways to attract tourists and enable the country earn more foreign incomes.
He insisted that telling a good story required having good information about the regions to attract tourists.
CNN award winner and writer of tourism, Kofi Akpabli also stressed the need to always give accurate information on destinations and what they entail.
Mr Akpabli noted that consistency and accuracy are key attributes of a good travel reporter.
