AS Roma manager, Jose Mourinho, has presented to Felix Afena-Gyan the shoes he promised him prior to his heroics against Genoa.
Afena-Gyan climbed off the bench to score two goals as Roma beat Genoa away from home to move to fifth on the Serie A league table.
The 18-year-old run to his manager to celebrate with him after scoring the first of two goals on Sunday, November 21.
Explaining the rationale behind Afena-Gyan’s decision to celebrate with him, the Portuguese coach said: “I had promised to buy Felix the boots he really likes, which are really expensive. They cost €800, so he ran over and told me not to forget! Tomorrow morning, the first thing I do is buy him the boots.”
In a social media post on Monday, Mourinho handed over the package to an emotional Afena-Gyan, who received it with a smile on his face.
The teenager has two goals in three games for the Italian side since his maiden appearance for the club against Cagliari on October 27.
