The Majority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, says his side is ready to match the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Caucus boot for boot as Parliament ends the 2022 budget debate today.
The debate on the budget, which commenced on Tuesday, November 23, witnessed intense exchanges from both sides of the political divide.
However, the tempo is expected to go up a little higher today, with the Minority threatening to subject the approval of the policy document to a vote.
The Akufo-Addo government, by the close of the day, will know the fate of the 2022 ‘Agenkwa’ budget, which was presented by Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, last week.
Reacting to this, Mr Annoh-Dompreh said, “We have taken a cue, and as such, we will also position ourselves properly. Mr Speaker, I can assure you that we will have a full-packed house ready to do proper battle with our colleagues in the Minority.
“So we will be ready. Evoke Article 104, and we will be ready to meet you accordingly,” he said on Thursday.
The #FixTheCountry movement is embarking on a demonstration dubbed ‘Yentua Demo’ to register their dissatisfaction with the 2022 Budget.
The agitated group mostly made up of youth, says certain aspects of the budget will unnecessarily burden the average Ghanaian, hence expressing their disgust.
In an earlier statement, the protestors said the 2022 Budget smacks of ‘purposeful deceit’ and ‘the absence of truth and genuine accountability, a situation the convenors say they will not tolerate.
