The Inspector-General of Police, Dr George Akuffo Dampare, has lauded his subordinates in the Service for their dedication towards maintaining law and order in the country throughout the year.
In his Christmas message, he stated that "I commend you all, for your courage, patriotic selflessness and unalloyed dedication towards the maintenance of law and order."
"We are proud of you and we will not take you for granted, we recognise that your efforts contribute greatly to the peace and security of this country...On behalf of the leadership of the Service, I wish all Officers a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year," he added.
According to the IGP, the achievements chalked this year are due to the "mercy" and "grace" from God Almighty; for that reason "we give glory to God Almighty for our lives and that of our families."
He used the opportunity to eulogize those who lost their lives while on duty. Also, Dr Akuffo Dampare gave the assurance that his administration will do what is required to support their surviving families.
"Let us continue to keep them in our prayers," he urged.
Meanwhile, Dr Akuffo Dampare is optimistic that officers who are engaged in acts of misconduct and unprofessionalism, resulting in a bad name for the Service will desist from these practices in the new year and beyond, "for us to regain the trust, confidence, and respect of the public."
To bolster such transformation, the IGP assured that his leadership will make time to listen to concerns and ideas on how to transform the Service into a world-class institution and the most respected organisation in Ghana.
