Reports in England say new Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti is ready to offer Ghana international Michael Essien a new £125,000-a-week deal to keep him at Stamford Bridge.
Early this week, the player's agent was accused of a scaremongering tactic when he stated some clubs were interested in the midfield powerhouse.
The 26-year-old is currently on a £90,000-a-week deal and Ancelotti believes this new offer will retain him as the club seek to win the Uefa Champions League.
Essien's departure at the West London club was speculated with rumours of AC Milan's Andrea Pirlo arriving this summer.
