Music Executive Munya Chanetsa says, having just raw talent is not enough to propel an artiste to global success. Although talent is essential in thriving as a musician, they should also take note of the necessity in putting the effort to excel higher by employing other equally important and positive ways of making it international.
Speaking in an interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz, the representative from Sony Music (South Africa) mentioned that record labels want artistes who have structure and have a well-sustained brand that can thrive on its own.
According to him, an artiste should be able their fanbase as well as build connects even without the support of a well-established record label.
“In this day and age, talent isn't enough. In this day and age, labels want to work with artistes who have structure. "How well have you done without the help of the label?" That's what we look out for.
He said this on the heels of the conversation on Daybreak Hitz concerning language barrier in music. The A&R expert also talked about scouting for outstanding and budding musicians who are currently making waves in Ghana—for a possible Sony Music partnership.
