Staff of Textile Ghana Limited, the producers of GTP, are demanding the immediate dismissal of Managing Director, Fatoumata Doro.
The aggrieved workers have accused her of appointing friends and family into the institution and disregarding the working conditions agreed on.
Numbering about 600, they withdrew their services and hit the streets of Tema today to protest against the unfavourable decisions taken by the Managing Director.
According to reports, while registering their displeasure, some workers engaged in the playing of football with the others serving as spectators.
Speaking to the media, they narrated that: “We are agitating this morning because the new MD who came in about six months ago has decided to show us disrespect and disregard for our collective working agreement and also create fear and panic.”
“For the first time, we have top-level management who have decided to join unions because of fear of the next action she (MD) will take. For example, she has decided to renegotiate every package in the collective agreement just because she has the intention to sack people.
“She is appointing friends and family and overburdening the institution. We won’t stop until she is gone,” a staff, told Accra-based Citi FM.
