The Association of Ghana Apparel Manufacturers (AGAM), the largest apparel-based business advocacy organisation in the country, has outdoored its newly elected executives at a formal ceremony held in Accra at the association’s general meeting last week.
The newly elected executives are President and COO of Sleek Garments, Mrs. Natasha Bannerman Kudjawu; Vice President and CEO of Sixteen 47, Nura Salifu; General Secretary CEO of Ford flora, Dr. Florence Chambas; Treasury Secretary, CEO of Harmony Trends, Mr. Mahama Yussif; Organising Secretary, CEO of Damaris and Garments Ltd., Jane Damaris Agyarko.
The old executives who handed over to the newly elected executives were; Mr. Gregory Kankoh CEO, Nallem Clothing President, Mrs. Linda Ampah, CEO, Cadling Fashons – Vice President, Mr. Dela Gomado, Del Gh Consult, Treasurer, Mrs. Natasha Kudjawu, Sleek Garments, Executive Member.

The handing over ceremony was witnessed by industry players such as; Dignity DTRT, Manise Designs, Charisma Fashions, Precious Textiles, Tiffylis, Global Garments, Jem Afrik, and Others.
Speaking at the handing over ceremony, Outgoing President, Mr. Gregory Kankoh said there is increased interest in Africa by key international players as a result of recent international events and AGAM is determined to work with members to take advantage of this opportunity and use that platform to continue to improve standards to suit market trends.
Outgoing Vice President of the association, Mrs. Linda Ampah encouraged members to increase collaboration to maximise opportunities, both locally and internationally.
National Coordinator, Nana Poquah A. Adiamah briefed members about the recent successful visit to the country of international garment and apparel buyers facilitated by the GIZ, the German Agency for International Corporation, in partnership with the German Embassy and the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
The newly elected President, Mrs. Natasha B. Kudjawu outlined the strategy for the incoming team and said their areas of focus are Business Development, Members Capacity Enhancement and Effective Partnerships.

Other programmes include; Advocacy for a national policy for the sector, Leverage on partnership to further improve International standards of compliance, industry oriented capacity building for the entire sector, increase awareness of the industry and develop further market access for the members of the Association/industry.
AGAM continues to partner – GIZ, USAID, DFID, UNESCO, DANIDA, EU, TFO CANADA, ITA, Ghana Export Promotion Authority, Ghana Exim Bank, Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ghana Enterprise Agency, Ghana Investment Promotion Center, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, AGI, GNCCI and COTVET etc.
