Ghanaian blogger Kobby Kyei says Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy and Sarkodie need to beef up their PR teams.
In an interview with Doreen Avio on Daybreak Hitz, Kobby Kyei was responding to Stonebwoy’s call for support following his new deal with DefJam records.
According to Stonebwoy, the likes of himself, Sarkodie and Shatta Wale would have been global brands by now, if Ghanaians held on to major moments.
He stressed that his major achievements and that of his colleagues are not celebrated enough.
However, Kobby Kyei believes that some of the issues happen because these artists in question do not have strong public relations teams to let the public know about the achievements Stonebwoy spoke about.
“Our Ghanaian artistes are not paying attention to PR. When you mention the likes of Wizkid, Davido and Burna Boy, they have websites where you can get any information that they need you to know about them.
“How many Ghanaian artists have websites that are always updated? They don’t take some of these things seriously. Even getting the information from them to feed their fanbase is a struggle. I think they (Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale and Sarkodie) do not have strong PR teams,” he said
Kobby Kyei on the other hand congratulated Stonebwoy for putting up a well-organized press conference to inform the press about his deal with an American multinational record label owned by the Universal Music Group DefJam recordings.
Stonebwoy is an award-winning African artist that has been placing the continent firmly on the musical map with international touring, standout collaborations and hugely popular singles since 2012.
He released his brand-new single, Therapy, on May 3 via DefJam Recordings, supported by UMG labels around the world.
