Nigerian Rapper, M.I Abaga, has revealed that he will be returning his stage name after using it for 15 years.
According to him, he believes his career trajectory especially after the release of his new album calls for a change.
In an Instagram post on Thursday, he wrote “after over 15yrs as minister incredible, I will be retiring the name "MI Abaga" and taking on a new name for my new project because, my new album hard af(sic) and it deserves a new name.”
He added that he will perform as M.I Abaga for a final time on Sunday, July 10.
He noted that it will be an event to celebrate his decade-long stint in the industry as “Africa’s greatest rapper”.
This comes a few days after M.I Abaga released his collaborative album project with A-Q, Blaqbones titled, Behold The Lamb.
Meanwhile, the rapper is expected to release his first solo album in years. The album titled The Guy is expected to drop in August 2022.
