Provisional results project incumbent Member of Parliament Mohammed Adamu Ramadan to retain the seat.
Reporting live from the vote count, JoyNews reporter Kwaku Asante disclosed that the incumbent although the vote count has not been concluded, has polled a majority of the votes.
According to him, the projection so far suggests that Mr Ramadan will edge past the challenger, Madam Oye Bampoe Addo with a little over 30 votes.
“The result has not been officially announced by the electoral commission. There were three pollen votes at this voting centre and they are doing the collation.
“But the mood here from Adamu Ramadan’s supporters clearly shows that they have won. Indeed the unofficial results show that Adamu Ramadan will edge past Madam Oye Bampoe Addo with a little over thirty votes,” Kwaku said.
It is expected that the incumbent would garner about 1020 votes while Madam Bampoe Addo has so far garnered about 929 votes.
This would be the first time the NDC would be maintaining an incumbent MP for the constituency since it was created.
Records show that the party has consistently changed its candidate to represent them in Parliament.
According to Kwaku Asante, the third contender, Madam Bampoe Addo has already conceded defeat in her address to the media while the second contender had already left the premises after noticing she was losing.
