The Vice Chairman of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), and son of Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Dr Onzy Nathan Kwame Nkrumah, has assured members of the CPP that he will make the party vibrant, attractive and restore its lost glory when he's given the opportunity to lead in the 2024 general election.
Dr Onzy Nkrumah gave the assurance after submitting his nomination forms to CPP executives at the party headquarters in Accra on Monday.

CPP, he indicated, has offered the people of Ghana good leadership and development in the past, and is ever ready to repeat that performance.
"I am again prepared to work tirelessly with every Ghanaian and serve the people with all humility," he added.
Dr Onzy Nkrumah explained that his decision to lead the CPP was in response to calls by some persons both home and abroad, who have been urging him to liberate Ghanaians from the economic hardship and mismanagement they are going through.
As a result, he urged Ghanaians to join him in supporting the CPP to win power and lead Ghana to the promised land, as his visionary and development-minded father, Dr Nkrumah, once did.
Dr Onzy Kwame Nkrumah further noted that, Osagyefo Dr Nkrumah, who led Ghana's liberation struggle, "invited those in the diaspora to return home so that they could collaborate to provide job opportunities for the youth."
"It is my aim to bring CPP to the Flagstaff House and to also see more CPP parliamentarians. The future is very promising for Ghana. My only motivation is to see CPP come to power. Nkrumah's spirit is a selfless spirit and it accommodates every person," he said.

Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, he averred, was a father, founder and liberator who had no problem in joining hands with other parties to move Ghana forward and deliver the best possible service to all people.
"It is my intention to see CPP come back to power"he reiterated.
Dr Onzy Nkrumah said he is optimistic that CPP delegates would do the right thing and vote massively for him to restore CPP's lost glory, and enable the party to serve the good people of Ghana better.
Onzy is the third child of the late Dr Kwame Nkrumah who has attempted dabbling in the politics of Ghana. His daughter, Samia Yaba Nkrumah, became an MP on the ticket of the CPP in the Jomoro Constituency of the Western Region, but lost the seat after one term.
She later served as the chairperson of the CPP, and attempted to become the party's flagbearer ahead of election 2016, but was defeated by Ivor Greenstreet.
Dr Nkrumah's other son, Sekou Nkrumah, who became more of a political commentator, mostly criticized his elder sister and brother publicly for their roles in the CPP.
In 2022 for instance, he condemned the CPP for allowing Onzy to contest as Vice chair of the CPP, a position he eventually lost but returned later to win it.
His reason was that Onzy, who's his half brother, is an Egyptian and did not qualify to serve in the CPP.
