The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has established the National Inter-agency Coordinating Committee for Health Promotion.
It is geared towards helping to improve the quality of life and health of the citizenry.
According to the GHS Director-General, Dr. Patrick Kuma Aboagye, expertise is required to surmount challenges in health promotion.
"We are facing more herculean tasks now because of the emergence and rapid increase in non-communicable diseases and has become a major problem. Expertise is duly required and we know with their diverse background they can help navigate all the challenges across," he explained.

He further revealed that supervisory assessments will be done to ensure the effectiveness of the committee.
"Apart from what the committee would do, we also have our own annual reports and coverages that will help us to see if a change in behavior is taking place and if it is creating an impact.”
Chairperson of the Inter-agency Coordinating Committee for Health Promotion in Ghana, Prof Elsie Effah Kaufmann says that the committee will ensure that health-related issues are duly promoted and coordinated.

The National Inter-agency Coordinating Committee for Health Promotion in Ghana is tasked to ensure improved communication, cooperation, and collaboration that will harness and coordinate advisory resources of key stakeholders to improve health and wellbeing whilst being the advocates of health promotion.
