Nigerian 100m hurdler, Tobi Amusan, has been cleared to compete at this year's World Athletics Championships in Budapest, after she was found not guilty of violating anti-doping whereabout regulations.
The 26-year old, the world record holder in the event, was handed a provisional suspension last month for allegedly missing three out of competition doping tests in a 12-month period, which constituted a violation of the anti-doping regulations, triggering the automatic provisional suspension.
The ban put her participation at the Budapest World Championships in jeopardy, as she vowed to fight to clear her name.
On Thursday evening, less than 48 hours to the start of the competition, the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU), the independent body tasked with dealing with issues of doping in the sport, released a statement, saying a Disciplinary Tribunal had found Amusan not guilty by a majority decision.
The full details of the ruling were not made available, however, the AIU say the will consider appealing the decision at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
The 2023 World Athletics Championships will take place in Budapest from August 19-27, 2023.
Amusan won the event in Oregon in 2022, and set a world record of 12.12s in the competition.
