Players of the Ghana U23 team, the Black Meteors, donated GHC13,000 to William Essu, who is seriously ill, to support his recovery.
William Essu, who was part of Legon Cities' team last season, is currently in poor health and struggling to recover.
Essu was also included in the Ghana U23 team that played against Algeria in the 2023 U23 AFCON qualifiers.
The goalkeeper’s illness became well-known following a letter he wrote to the head coach of the Black Meteors, Ibrahim Tanko, asking for assistance in claiming his bonus.
This touched the hearts of many, including the Ghana Football Association and the Nicholas Opoku Foundation, both of whom have donated some amount of money to the player.
