Black Queens head coach, Naura Hauptle, says it is satisfying her side opened their 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign with a 7-0 win over Rwanda.
The Ghana women’s national team scored three in the first half and added another four in the second to wrap up an emphatic victory in Kigali on Wednesday afternoon.
Speaking after the game, the Swiss international said it was important they won by this huge margin but keeping a clean sheet was even better.
“We won 7-0. Of course, it is quite satisfying. It is not only about scoring so many goals. It is important we also kept our kept our clean sheet.”
Doris Boaduwaa, Evelyn Badu, and Princella Adubea scored to ensure Ghana ended the first half 3-0 up.
Kusi Alice, Evelyn Badu again and a brace from Achiaa Anasthesia wrapped up the 7-0 win for the Black Queens.
The first-round reverse fixture will be played at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, September 26.
The Black Queens will progress to the second qualifying round when the qualifying formality is completed.
