Some filling stations in Accra were, Wednesday morning, venues for tussling and wrestling by commercial drivers for petrol which is in short supply.
At the Avenor Goil filling station in Accra, the drivers in long winding queues were incensed with the station managers for allegedly withholding the sale of the product.
In an interview with Myjoyonline.com, the drivers said they had toured several parts of the city for petrol and diesel without success and were happy the Avenor station had some stocks left.
They found it rather annoying the manager halted the sales.
An attendant, Kofi Gideon, admitted to this reporter there was a very limited stock of petrol but had to halt sales due to the incessant heckling and misunderstanding among the drivers.
Some of the drivers he claimed, brought gallons to buy the product when they had queued with vehicles.
At the La Total Filling Station, the situation was no different.
Alfred Avoka, the station manager said his stock had just run out and expected fresh stocks later in the day.
But the angry drivers will not accept the explanation.
One of them, Kingsley Abgeshie, accused the manager of hoarding the product.
There was however diesel on sale at the station.
