Social media sensation, Afua Asantewaa says although the Guinness World Records says it has refunded the $750 she paid for a priority review, she is yet to receive an alert indicating a successful transfer.
Speaking in an interview on GTV, she noted that when she made the payment for the review in January, GWR responded to her message five days later.
Afua Asantewaa said that although her message was acknowledged she was not informed that her record attempt was under review.
Additionally, she said that the team at GWR did not inform her when they made the decision to refund her money.
"My bank did not notify me…Even the transaction we made, they saw it after five days. So if they refunded it to me, a refund is not confirmation of a successful or unsuccessful attempt.”
“Even if they refunded it on the 8th of February, I did not receive it. I can give you details, my bank can clarify this. I did not receive anything of that sort,” she said.
This comes after the GWR, when announcing the results of Afua Asantewaa’s sing-a-thon, said the money she paid for a priority review had been refunded.
This raised questions on why the social media sensation did not inform the public if GWR had already reached out to her.
However, Afua Asantewaa insists that not only did she not know about the refund, but as of Friday, February 23, when GWR replied to a tweet, she did not know the results of the record attempt. This, she explained, is because she could not access the email GWR sent containing the results.
She noted that when she was sent the email on February 12, she alerted the GWR about her inability to access it however, to date they are yet to get back to her.
